Kay’s Kindness Rewarded: Pastoral Manager Earns a Special Community Award

Kay Shaw was surprised by parish councillors in school who handed her the Rossington Community Kindness Award, passed around the community through nomination via the Parish Council and the Royal Care home.

Kay was nominated by Fiona’s Flowers, a florist in the village. Her nomination said:

“I have decided the next person to receive the kindness award should be Kay Shaw. The impact this lady has on the community through the school is amazing. She is a real-life hero! Many a time her name is brought up in conversation on a day-today basis from multiple people she has helped. I truly don’t think this lady realises how special and how loved she is from parents and children. It is an absolute honour to pass this award on to someone who is so deserving.”

Children in Tigers class were discussing kindness and asked, as a surprise, to write about what Mrs Shaw does that is kind. On sharing these with her, councillors arrived with the award! The children were quick to give her celebratory hugs and a huge round of applause for such wonderful praise.

Mrs Shaw will be part of the book of recipients and will keep the trophy for a month before she nominates another kind member of the Rossington community.
