Raising Voices: A Journey to Symphony Hall

The Pheasant Bank Academy Choir has been on an inspiring journey, overcoming the challenges of the pandemic to develop excellence in music and singing. Initially formed during COVID-19, the choir has since grown into one of the largest in the area, providing students with a platform to showcase their talent and build confidence.

The choir has flourished under the guidance of Paul and Debbie from the Rainbow Connection Choir. The initiative has not only uncovered hidden musical abilities but has also created a space where students can connect, break gender stereotypes, and experience the joy of performance.

One of the choir members shared their excitement about reaching the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham, calling it their favourite moment so far. The achievement has instilled a deep sense of pride within the academy, with students and staff celebrating their success.

The choir’s unique inclusivity, particularly its strong representation of male singers, is helping to challenge societal norms and encourage broader participation in the arts. Beyond vocal skills, students gain vital social and performance experiences, boosting their confidence and stage presence.

Funding from Delta Academies Charitable Trust has played a crucial role in ‘professionalising’ the choir’s appearance, ensuring all members can perform in matching uniforms. With the national stage set, the choir focused on making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, relishing the moment, and delivering a performance to remember.

The Pheasant Bank Academy Choir continued to bring joy and unity to their academy community, proving that dedication and passion for music can lead to extraordinary achievements.
