Empowering Students Through Outdoor Learning: Explore Our New Website
This week we launched our new ‘Outdoor Provision’ website that provides a place to showcase the opportunities for all our pupils and students across the Trust.
At Delta, we understand the importance of giving pupils and students the opportunities to learn beyond the classroom in a wide range of environments, from our outdoor enrichment centres such as Dallowgill, to museums and visits to work places across different industries.
These trips and experiences allow pupils and students to learn in an interactive environment and develop new interests as well as life skills. This new website will cover all opportunities available including:
Dallowgill
Dallowgill is our first Trust residential centre, based in the heart of Nidderdale. After a complete makeover, it opened its doors to all Delta students in April 2021 and has since hosted 1000s of children from all academies. This is also a key part of The Delta Offer.
Dallowgill allows students the opportunity to learn independent life skills and take a leap into nature in one of the UK’s Dark skies locations.
Students are given the opportunity to walk the nearby mosaic trail while visiting as well as visiting local farms and the Greygarth Monument.

The Church at Dallowgill
If you have a visit to Dallowgill coming up, you will also be able to visit the church next to the centre which now holds a new space for students to enjoy. From being used as a DofE base, to performances (such as Christmas by Candlelight), this new addition is a perfect fit for your Dallowgill visit.

Patterdale
In summer 2024, we acquired a new centre in the stunning Lake District. Patterdale (formerly part of YHA) is in the early stages of being transformed into a new residential centre for our students which includes a campsite, space for larger groups of students, new activity areas and so much more. To keep up to date with any updates to the centre, be sure to check out the ‘Patterdale’ section of the ‘Outdoor Provision’ site and give us a follow on our socials
Primary Trips
All academies follow a bespoke curriculum for their location, and the trips and opportunities available coincide with the various topics of study. This can range from history museums to trips to the seaside. Matching the ideal trip to the curriculum allows pupils to learn with a more hands-on approach which can also help better their understanding.

Secondary Trips
As with our primaries, our secondary trips allows students to experience the curriculum in interactive settings, from museums to residentials in other countries and career/university trips. Alongside this, all our academies offer students the opportunity to partake in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards, with selected academies offering Silver and Gold.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
All our secondary academies offer the Bronze DofE Award with selected academies offering Silver and Gold. These awards provide plenty of new skill-learning opportunities through various expeditions throughout their school experience. This is also a key part of The Delta Offer.
